We use it at school, both during lessons of English or at break time.
What went very well? Give some examples.
Videoconference Scotland-Catalonia, Emails between penpals: Sweden, Scotland and Catalonia, Emails between teachers
What was not so successful? Give examples.
Website: students are not participating in it although we have a nice website, but only teachers are running it. Emails with Romania and Italy, Romania doesn't have a good Internet connection, Italy doesn't have a prepared teacher to do it
What solutions were found to problems occurring in the activity?
Lack of time: write emails at break time as a voluntary activity
What difficulties were not solved during the duration of the activity?
Children's participation in website. Not children emails from Romania or Italy
What kind of long term benefit and impact has the project had on learning activities?
Motivation to learn more English. Spread use of emails among 10-12 years old pupils. To have more practice using computers.
Has there been an impact on other projects, on the learning and teaching activities at school? Please describe.
More consciousness about being European citizens More awareness about the importance of new technologies in learning-teaching activities
How did it change your practice in your school?
Now we have email and searching for information in a website as normal activities. To spread among teachers, pupils and parents the importance of learning English and the use of ICT
What advice would you give to other teachers who would like to do a similar project?
Find partners with similar technological level and knowledge. To have the Head Teacher and staff support. To open the project to parents and the local community, it increases your own self-esteem and it improves the impression of the school outside its doors.
